How The Daily Hue works

The Daily Hue is a daily art puzzle. Find a hidden color in an artwork using hue, saturation, and lightness sliders. You have up to five guesses, with directional feedback after a miss. Finishing the puzzle reveals a gallery of related artworks.

The game is provided by The Daily Hue. Its official FAQ explains the current rules and account options. Today's puzzle can be played as a guest. Accounts save progress; archive and collection play have separate sign-in and key requirements.

Read the picture before guessing

This game rewards looking at a composition. First pick a plausible area in the artwork: a wall, clothing, a patch of sky, or a small accent. Look at how the neighboring colors affect your perception. A gray beside a vivid orange can seem blue even when it is only slightly cool.

Make a deliberate first guess and read the feedback before changing it. Avoid moving a control randomly until the preview feels different. Instead, make a concrete prediction: “This needs less saturation” or “The lightness should rise.” Your next result then tells you whether that prediction helped.

Keep the same screen brightness while comparing guesses. If you switch devices in the middle, the preview may look different even though its numeric color has stayed the same.

HSL and HSB are different

The Daily Hue uses lightness, while Toon Tone uses brightness. Both interfaces separate hue from intensity, but the third number is not interchangeable.
